NOVI Energy is currently developing an 711-acre, approximately 100 MWAC solar PV facility in Virginia.
The project site is south of Chase City in Mecklenburg County. The site is currently used for timber operations. The site has been acquired under long-term lease agreements for solar electricity power generation with multiple landowners. NOVI is in the process of obtaining all environmental and local permits needed to construct and operate this project. Old Mansion plans to completed the initial environmental studies, including a wetlands delineation, a threatened and endangered species review, and a cultural, archaeological, and historical review of the entire site, by 4Q 2022. Old Mansion will also complete a topographical survey and geotechnical study during this time period.
Old Mansion Solar will use bi-facial solar modules with high efficiency PV cells that are optimized for utility scale solar photovoltaic projects. Central inverters will minimize operations and maintenance and improve efficiency of the overall plant. The solar modules will be mounted to single-axis tracking systems that have been optimized for use with bi-facial panels to deliver high capacity factors without stretching the inverter ratio of the system.
The generated power will be stepped up to interconnect with Dominion’s 230 kV transmission system. For this interconnection, NOVI filed an interconnection application to begin the process with PJM and Dominion in September of last year (Queue Position AH1-527). The project is expected to sign its Generator Interconnection Agreement late 2023.
