NOVI Energy developed 100 MWs of ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in combination with Energy Storage systems in Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York for an IPP client. NOVI completed the below tasks for this development:
- Acquired land in areas with access to transmission and distribution lines with multiple systems sized 20 MW and up.
- Provided technical and development services
- Conceptualized Projects including sizing and use cases
- Developed bid specifications for equipment procurement and construction
- Technical bid evaluations
- Interconnection support
- Three separate project locations with multiple projects (total capacity of approximately 300 MW/1,200 MWh)
- Worked with NYSERDA, NYISO, ConEd, and NY-BEST to determine best fit for New York City
This system utilizes solar modules with high efficiency PV cells, low-iron tempered glass with anti-reflective coating, and an industry-leading warranty. The inverters are 98% CEC efficient and are designed for utility-scale applications. The mounting system is designed for easy assembly. After posts are driven, field labor is used to unfold the racking, set it on posts, set panels, and perform connections. This system steps up the voltage to the transmission or distribution level, before evacuating power to the grid.
The energy storage systems provide ancillary services to the Regional Transmission Operators along with dispatchable renewable power. These energy storage systems use high energy density Li-ion batteries to provide up to 4 hours of continuous power.
The installation of this system, once started, will take approximately 6 to 9 months.
